Administrative Professional’s Day aka Secretaries Day or Admin Day pays heed to the work of secretaries, administrative assistants, receptionists, and other administrative support professionals. It is an unofficial secular holiday observed in multiple countries. In North America, it is celebrated on the Wednesday of the last full week of April which is April 25th of this year.
The idea began with Mary Barrett, president of the National Secretaries Association which is now called the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) and C. King Woodbridge, president of Dictaphone Corporation. They wanted to address a national shortage of skilled office workers. National Secretaries Week was first held from June 1-7, 1952 and was sponsored by the National Secretaries Association.
Today, the celebration is called Administrative Professionals Week and it is one of the largest workplace observances. Assistants are given gifts like flowers, candy, gift cards, and lunch. Many companies create custom lapel pins to hand out during this week because the small but memorable gift items can be worn year round. They can be attached to an article of clothing or lanyard and be shown off to everyone in the office.
Administrative Professionals Week is only one reason to celebrate your office workers. You can create custom lapel pins for individuals that meet sales goals, follow safe work practices or provide your company with years of service. Glitter and simulated gemstones are attractive additions to your lapel pin design. You can inquire about these options when you request a free price quote from us.
