When GracePoint Church contacted us back in 2015 about helping them create a set of custom challenge coins to offer veterans attending their services, we were happy to help. The team at GracePoint was so happy with the final results, and the coins were received so well by their congregation, that they have come back every year since. Honoring Soldiers With Veterans Day Challenge Coins
When asked about the custom challenge coins, Chapman said, “Each year GracePoint Church of God in Pasco, WA sets aside the morning worship on the Sunday around Veterans Day to honor those who serve.” The coins we help design every year are a part of the ceremony, and are meant to show respect and gratitude to active duty soldiers and veterans in attendance. Surrounding the American flag you can see that every branch of service is included in the design, as well as the message Honoring Those Who Gave their All.
“We have honored all military veterans in years past with a challenge coin, but we don’t forget those who are on the front lines serving our police force, fire department and medical personnel,” said Chapman. Every custom coin designed by GracePoint has included a passage from the bible. The soaring eagle at the center of this design was included as a reference to the bible passage inscribed on the front of the coin, Isaiah 40:31, and in honor of our nation’s symbol of freedom.
Soldiers collect challenge coins during their service and long after they retire. Each one tells a different story and is earned through excellence, courage and sacrifice. The design itself is coated in a protective layer of epoxy, giving the coins a smooth texture and helping to preserve the enamel paint over time. Chapman, and the team at GracePoint, wanted to make sure that these coins could be displayed with pride for a lifetime without losing their vibrant color. The artwork itself is framed in a custom rope edge, giving the coin a unique appearance and custom appeal. To help the eagle wings really shine, we suggested high polish gold plating instead of other popular options like antique gold or matte gold. The bright metal plating gives the design a unique shimmer under any light source, adding a lifelike quality to the soaring eagle.
